MATCHA GREEN TEA

Forget regular green tea...! Don't actually forget it but, take a look at it's superior family member

matcha!  Matcha is finely milled or powdered Japanese green tea of the highest quality.  The vibrant green color is from being shade dried and exposed to oxygen very little.  It has 100 times the amount of EGCG as regular green tea which is a potent antioxidant that has possible therapeutic benefits for a broad range of disorders including but, not limited to cancer, endometriosis and chronic fatigue syndrome.  Possibly the best part about matcha...it's a natural fat burner that enhances your resting metabolic rate.  You may be wondering about the caffeine content and although it does contain caffeine (70mg per 8oz) it is almost half the amount as a cup of brewed coffee and matcha contains L-Theanine which is an amino acid which promotes a state of relaxation giving matcha the unique ability to give you an energy boost without crashing afterwards.  It's also a rich source of chlorophyll which is a powerful detoxifier.

COCONUT PALM SUGAR

Everyone is always looking for the elusive alternative to white (cane) sugar that is going to offer

no-guilt sweetness.  Coconut Palm Sugar has hit the market in full force with claims that it is the superior sweetener.  While some of the claims are partially true, make no mistake this is not a miracle sweetener, in fact it contains the same amount of sugar and calories as normal white sugar.  There are some benefits to using coconut palm sugar however, like all sugars it will need to be used in moderation.  Pure coconut palm sugar is a natural product made from the nectar of the coconut palm tree.  There have been reports that it has a much lower GI than table sugar therefore safer for diabetics. While there is some confusion about the actual fructose/sucrose content of coconut palm sugar it does appear that it does have a lower GI but, how much is still up for debate.  Coconut palm sugar contains substantially more micro-nutrients than other sweeteners because it's very minimally processed.  Aside from it possibly being lower GI and containing more nutritional value, the reason we recommend it is bar none the TASTE!  It is rich, delicious and complex and although sweeteners should never be regarded as health foods, at least when you enjoy this sweet treat you will certainly be getting a tastier, healthier version.

EGGS

Poor eggs sure have gotten a bad rap in the past.  Don't judge one of nature's most perfect foods

based on ancient theories that say the high concentration of cholesterol in the yolk can cause elevated blood cholesterol leading to heart disease.  There have been countless studies that prove otherwise and most recently a meta-analysis (1) of 17 various studies found no association between egg consumption and heart disease/stroke in otherwise healthy individuals.

If you've been tossing the yolks, you may want to think twice!  The yolks contain almost all of the nutrients like B Vitamins, Vitamin A and Selenium.  The yolks also contain high amounts of choline which most people are not getting enough of in their diets and a low intake has been linked to liver diseases, cardiovascular disease and neurological disorders. 

Eggs have the correct balance of all 9 essential amino acids (proteins) required by the body.  The protein in eggs is highly bio-available to the human body and is scored as "perfect" on the biological value scale.

They are one of the best foods to eat to stave off Macular Degeneration and Cataracts due to their high amounts of protective eye antioxidants such as Lutein and Zeaxanthin.

Not convinced yet?  They're also extremely filling and satisfying which is why they are touted as an effective weight loss food, they can actually IMPROVE your cholesterol profile and they are one of the most versatile foods on the planet! 

It's best to buy eggs that have been ethically raised, free range and the feed should include greens or herbs so that the yolks produce vitamin K2.
