So this month we are going to do some shameless plugging of only products that you will find at Nutritional Sciences because often clients come in and buy what we suggest but, miss out on all the good stuff that's sitting among our shelves!
#1 - Organika Organic Coconut Vinegar
It's so good it's won awards and although we've known about it for sometime we haven't had it here because we try to stick to supplements and not food. We've recently added this to our shelves because it is simply amazing and...wait for it...BETTER for you than apple cider vinegar!
Why we love it: Wanda and I were both extremely skeptical when we were given the opportunity to try a sample but, after a small taste we both agreed that it was one of the best vinegars we've had on our palates! I (Sarah) am officially converting to the coconut vinegar because of it's amazing health benefits not only it's taste. It is natural enriched with minerals, amino acids and vitamins and alkalized which makes it 10 times healthier than apple cider vinegar! It is made from organic coconut sap and naturally fermented so it is really beneficial to your digestive system. The flavor is something you're going to have to try for yourself. we have samples for you to test in store just ask!
#2 - Organika Coconut Oil
If you're not already coconut oil crazy like some of us, you will be soon! Coconut oil has taken the market by storm and seems to have an endless list of uses.
Why we love it: We love Organika coconut oil because it is raw and cold pressed and NOT synthetic, deodorized or refined like many brands on the market especially the too good to be true priced brands and it's organic as well. Coconut oil is great for cooking with as it is heat stable so the beneficial compounds in it are not destroyed by cooking like they are with olive oil, grapeseed oil and many other oils. It is high in medium chain triglycerides which can help with weight loss and energy. Especially high in Lauric Acid which is converted by the body into monolaurin, a monoglyceride compound which exhibits antiviral, antimicrobial, antiprotozoal and antifungal properties...whoa! There are many uses for coconut oil besides in your food and here are just a few.
- Body moisturizer
- Facial moisturizer
- Eye makeup remover (even waterproof)
- Deep conditioning treatment for hair
- As a coffee creamer alternative
- Used to prevent and treat chapped lips
- As a shaving cream replacement
- To help with the healing of cold sores
- As a furniture polish
If you're swayed by the price of coconut oil don't be. Sarah uses it for almost everything (daily moisturizer, shaving cream, cooking and eye makeup remover) and 1 jar will last for several months. It's worth the investment we promise!
#3 - Natural Factors Tea Tree Oil Spray
We've had this one on our shelves for a while and although it's not one of our top sellers, it should be! Tea tree oil is one of the strongest and most effective natural antiseptics; killing bacteria, viruses, and fungi upon contact. Natural Factors has incorporated it into a convenient spray combined with peppermint and menthol which cool the skin and leave a pleasant aroma.
Why we love it: It's extremely portable and can be used as an antibacterial cleanser in places like pools (on your feet to prevent fungal infection), locker rooms, gyms or any other public places. It is handy for a quick antiseptic on minor skin abrasions and relieves the itch of bug bites. It is also handy if you feel an acne lesion coming on as a spot treatment and a great way to help prevent and treat athletes foot by spraying directly onto the feet. Spray it in your shoes as a handy and quick deodorizer or use it as an emergency hand sanitizer that is not horribly scented with synthetic ingredients. One thing to note about tea tree oil however it that it can be toxic when ingested so don't you put it in your mouth and keep it clear of children and animals that may accidentally ingest it.
